Department of Social Welfare and Development - Relief Augmentation Information Management System

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) needed a robust, efficient solution to manage the growing demand for relief assistance requests from local government units (LGUs). I developed a modern Relief Augmentation Information Management System using VueJS 3 for the frontend, Laravel 10 with RESTful API for the backend, and NodeJS WebHooks with ExpressJS for real-time notifications. This system allows LGUs to securely submit augmentation requests online and receive instant updates on their status. The platform centralizes all submissions, improves tracking, and reduces the burden of manual processing. It is designed to be scalable, responsive, and optimized for fast coordination, especially during emergencies and natural disasters.

Client Challenges

Previously, LGUs submitted their relief augmentation requests manually via paper forms or through disorganized email threads. This outdated method often caused significant delays in processing, with some submissions getting lost or overlooked entirely. The lack of a standardized and traceable workflow made it difficult for DSWD staff to monitor incoming requests, prioritize responses, or provide timely updates to LGUs. During critical periods, such as typhoons or other large-scale calamities, these inefficiencies greatly hindered the department’s ability to deliver aid promptly.

Result After Completion

The new system replaced inefficient manual processes with a streamlined, digital-first platform that drastically improved response time and transparency. LGUs can now submit requests with ease, track their status in real time, and receive notifications as soon as updates are made—eliminating the risk of lost communications. The centralized dashboard also helps DSWD staff organize, review, and prioritize incoming requests with greater speed and accuracy. As a result, the department improved its disaster response coordination, reduced administrative workload, and enhanced inter-agency collaboration during urgent relief efforts.
